Tripura teacher allegedly kidnapped near school and thrashed by BJP workers

On Monday afternoon, a teacher was allegedly abducted at an isolated place near his school and attacked with sticks by a group of people.

Speaking to reporters, Pradeep Kar, a primary teacher at Mariamnagar High School on the outskirts of Agartala, said that he was standing in front of the school during recess when five or six youths called him to a nearby tea stall and attacked him. Started beating. ,

“They threatened me with death for registering a case against them. They threw punches at me, made me sit on a motorcycle, took me to a secluded place, beat me with sticks and left me there,” said Kar. “There were many people, including teachers, near the tea shop. According to him, the latest attack was provoked by a complaint. The teacher said that the attackers also snatched his wallet which contained Rs 7,000. However, he has not lodged a complaint with the police as he has been kept at Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital for treatment.

BJP spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharya said that his party strongly opposes any kind of violence. “If there has been an attack, the police should take appropriate action at the earliest,” he said.
