Tripura announces recruitment for 188 posts after criticism from opposition

Three days left to complete four years in power BJPThe IPFT government on Saturday announced the recruitment of 188 posts in schools and other educational as well as non-academic institutions.

The announcement comes amid sharp criticism from the opposition CPM and Congress, who have accused the government of failure on the employment front.

Last month, Leader of the Opposition Manik Sarkar had said at a rally that before coming to power in 2018, the BJP had promised jobs to people in every household, but the jobs had become less than before and the election promises were not enough. However, the contract employees were not regularised.

Former health minister Sudip Roy Burman, who recently joined the Congress, said in political rallies that the government has failed to provide employment as promised. He also said that widespread hooliganism was abandoned under the BJP rule.

Responding to the allegations, Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Sushant Choudhary said that more recruitment will be done in educational institutions. According to the government, 188 posts of 20 college principals, four polytechnic college principals, six assistant professors, two associate professors and two professors for teacher training institutes, 150 junior physical instructors and four forensic technical staff are about to be filled. The Junior Physical Instructor recruitment is expected to start in a month.

“We have decided to recruit principals for all those colleges which are mostly run by assistant professors,” the minister told reporters in the afternoon.

Government will include stenography in the recruitment exam of Tripura Stenographer Service. “Stenographers are appointed through direct recruitment examination. The exam will consist of questions of 30 marks each for English and General Studies and 40 marks for Stenography. We have included stenography in the recruitment test as it is essential for stenographers to have knowledge of stenography,” Choudhury said.

A Chief Executive Officer will be appointed in Tripura Horti Corporation on contract basis for one year. Candidate should have PhD and should have experience in Horticulture.

Last month, the government published a list of 1,443 candidates, including 138 women, selected for the posts of riflemen and riflemen (tradesmen) for the two new Indian Reserve battalions of the Tripura State Rifles. The recruitment process was notified in 2019.
