Tory Party Deputy Chief Whip Chris Pincher quits after claims of ‘two people getting drunk’ at Carlton Club, a venue hosted by private members of the Conservative Party

conservative Party The Deputy Chief Whip has stepped down tonight after allegedly groping two people under the influence of alcohol last night.

In a resignation letter seen by the Sun, Chris Pincher admitted that he had ’embarrassed himself and others’ after drinking too much at the Tory Private Members’ Club in London.

according to SundayThe letter said: ‘Last night I drank too much.

‘I have embarrassed myself and other people which is the last thing I want to do and for that I apologize to you and the people concerned.

“I think it is appropriate under the circumstances for me to resign from the post of Deputy Chief Whip. I am indebted to you and the people I have troubled with for doing so.

Conservative Party Deputy Chief Whip Chris Pincher stepped down tonight after allegedly groping two men while intoxicated last night.

‘I want to assure you that you will continue to have my full support from the back bench, and I wish you all the best as you deal with the shocks of COVID-19 and the challenges of international inflation.

‘It has been the honor of my life to serve in His Majesty’s Government.’

The newspaper reports that Mr Pincher was drinking at the Carlton Club – the private members’ club of a Tory party in Piccadilly – when he is said to have assaulted two fellow guests.

It is the second time Mr Pincher has been forced to leave the whip office after accusing former Olympic rower and Conservative activist Alex Storey, then 26, of making a pass.

He is accused of trying to take off Mr. Story’s shirt and persuade him to return to his home in London, as well as massaging his neck, saying: ‘You will go too far in the Conservative Party.’

Mr Storey claims that at one point Mr Pincher left the room saying ‘just let me get into something more comfortable’, before returning to the bathrobe ‘like a Harvey Weinstein pound shop.’

He was acquitted of wrongdoing by a Conservative Party investigation.
