Greetings there. A busy day in Tokyo – here’s my colleague Martin Bellum who might just tickle your fancy…
Major events of the 13th day
All events are listed here in local Tokyo time. Add one hour for Cairns, subtract eight hours for Aberystwyth, 13 hours for Baltimore, and 16 hours for Los Angeles.
If you only watch one thing: Hockey at 7 p.m. – Australia and Belgium will face each other for gold in the final. Australia last won it in 2004. Belgium has never won, but will be aiming to go one step better than their silver in Rio.
- 6.30am Marathon Swim – It’s 10km open water for men, and I’m still tired of seeing women swimming it late at night/this morning
- 7.30am Golf Day 2 of the women’s competition.
- 9am-10.50am And 9pm-10.50pm Beach Volleyball – Women’s semi-finals are in the morning, men’s semi-finals are late night sessions.
- 9am-3.05pm And 7pm-9.45pm Athletics The main attractions of the stadium include: Men’s triple jump final And Men’s Shot Put Final in the morning, when we Men’s 110m Hurdles Final 11.55 hrs. In the evening session, it is women’s pole vault final And this Men’s 400m final It’s 9 pm. There’s more to the day heptathlon And decathlon, and culminated with the women’s 800m heats and the men’s 1500m heats at the end of the day
- 9am-12.30 Skateboarding – Men go to the park program
- 9.30am 1.05am Canoe Sprint – Finals are held at 11.42 am in men’s kayak single, women’s canoe single 200m at 11.57, women’s kayak single 500m at 12.29 and the final race of the day is men’s kayak double 1000m at 12.55
- Basketball at 1.15 pm and 8 pm – Men’s semifinals. To start with Team USA vs Australia, then the game of the evening is Slovenia vs France.
- 3pm diving Women’s 10m platform final
- 3.30pm-6.50pm Track Cycling – Thursday’s action culminates in the women’s keirin final at 5.45pm and the men’s omnium at 5.55pm.
- Race walking at 4.30 – This is where you shout at the television: “Just run! Or walk! But not this! What is this even?” It’s up to the men in Sapporo to try to make it cool, who cover a distance of 20km
- football at 5 pm – USA vs Australia for women’s bronze medal
- 5:00 And 9pm handball – The men’s competition is in the semifinal stage: France v Egypt first then Spain v Denmark. It’s good it’s dead. You should let it see.
- 5.30 pm, 6.30 pm And Climbing Sports at 9.10am – It’s medal time for men
