To support tribal movement in Palghar, Tikait says agricultural protest will not be withdrawn immediately

Farmers’ protest will not be withdrawn until three controversial laws are repealed in Parliament and there is no legal guarantee or legislation on Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops, Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait Said on Friday.

Tikait, one of the most prominent leaders of the movement, was in Palghar district of Maharashtra to participate in a protest organized by local tribal people, when the Prime Minister Narendra Modi Announced the repeal of agricultural laws.

“The movement will not be withdrawn immediately. We will wait for the day when agriculture laws will be repealed in Parliament. The government should also talk to farmers on issues other than MSP,” the farmer leader from western Uttar Pradesh tweeted in Hindi.

Tikait was in Palghar to participate in a cultural rally and Kisan Maha Panchayat organized by BhumiSena-Adivasi Ekta Parishad against several projects, including the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train, Wadhawan port and others, in which land of tribals would reportedly be acquired. . ,

Tikait met members of the Bhoomi Sena, including its leader Kaluram Dodade (Kaka), who have been campaigning and protesting for land rights for tribal communities in the region.

After Friday’s rally, he said, “Urbanization will affect traditional farming and the lifestyle of the natives. Be it expressway, bullet train or port project, only a select few industrialists will (benefit). Instead, the government should market the products grown and made by these tribal people.”

Tikait said that he would reach the Delhi border on Saturday. The meeting of United Kisan Morcha will be held at Singhu Seema head office and the final decision (on the protest) will be taken there.
