TMC leaders ‘dodge police’, meet Lakhimpur Kheri victims’ kin

A delegation of Trinamool Congress MPs met the families of the farmers killed on Tuesday Lakhimpur Kheri violence, claimed that they posed as tourists to the Uttar Pradesh Police.

The TMC delegation comprised of MPs Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Sushmita Dev, Abir Ranjan Biswas, Pratima Mondal and Dola Sen. Sen said they were trying to reach Lakhimpur Kheri from Sunday and could reach there after two days.

talking to Indian ExpressDastidar said, “It was a well-planned and pre-planned murder – there is no question of it being an accident. The torso of the victims has been crushed. It has been done by BJP Government
In which there is neither respect for human life nor for farmers.

Dastidar and Dev went to Palia tehsil of the district to meet the relatives of Lovepreet Singh (19), while others went to Dhaurhara tehsil to meet the relatives of Nachtar Singh.

Dastidar said it was “very difficult” for him to reach Lakhimpur. “We have come to express our solidarity with the farmers and demand that the BJP (agriculture) laws be withdrawn…Mamata Banerjee He had led the biggest peasant movement in Singur and returned the land of the farmers. We are not here to joke. Will be ‘played’ here too. If the government here thinks that they are the only ones on the ground, then they are wrong.”

Dastidar also questioned why PM Modi did not meet the families. “If a minister’s son can crush people so mercilessly, then where will the common man go. Why didn’t the Prime Minister come here? Our country is a democracy, but democracy has disappeared from last few years – especially the UP government – put in jail whomever they like, do whatever they like,” she alleged.

TMC spokesperson OP Mishra said, “The evidence of the crime and the perpetrators are quite clear”.

“The video shows that a most heinous crime has been committed and no less insensitive and irresponsible, there are wicked attempts to hide it and rationalize it. The evidence of crime and criminal is absolutely clear, and yet the central government and the Yogi administration are sleeping on the misdeeds and refusing to take punitive action,” he said.
