Nagpur: A three-year-old tiger was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Makardhokda beat of North Umred forest area. This is the 8th death of tigers in Maharashtra in the last two months.
Nagpur Deputy Conservator of Forests (DyCF) Bharat Singh Hada said, “All the body parts of the animal are intact and poaching is ruled out. However, a road injury can also be a possible cause as there are bruises on the body. It could also be a regional battle. The body was found in a private farm. The exact cause of death will be known only after the postmortem.”
As it is dark, the post-mortem will be done on Monday as per NTCA protocol.
In another development, a sub-adult tigress cub of about 9 months old was captured by the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) rescue team.
Sources said the tigress was caught with a chemical standoff from compartment number 67 at Kachhepar Beat in Talodhi forest area of ​​Bramhapuri division.
Officials said the animal suffered a fracture in the right arm of the shoulder. The cub has been shifted to the Transit Treatment Center (TTC) in Chandrapur. Injuries can also occur in a hit and run situation.
