Thunderbirds beat Rockets 4-1 in Seattle Globalnews.ca

seattle thunderbirds dominated the third period against kelowna rockets for a 4-1 win on Saturday night at the Accesso Showvar Center in Kent, Wash.

The eighth-seeded Rockets held their own for 40 minutes against the top-ranked T-Birds.

Kelowna fell behind on a power play goal in the first period, but the Rockets were able to come back in the second period and tie the game.

Adam Kidd was able to bring Carson Golder’s missed shot back into the crease, where Dylan Wightman found it past Thomas Milik to tie the game. Weightman scored the team’s only goal of the night.

Seattle pulled ahead with two unanswered goals in the third period before adding an empty net goal.

Lucas Siona restored the T-Birds’ lead just before the midway point of the third period. Chicago Blackhawks prospect Nolan Allen’s shot found its way through Jari Kakkanen’s fifth hole to give Seattle a two-goal cushion. Jared Davidson capped off the game with an empty netter.

Kykanen was again in net for the Rockets, facing 47 shots he was able to deflect 44 of them.

Seattle defeated Kelowna 48 to 26. The Thunderbirds now lead the best-of-seven series 2-0.

The series shifts to Kelowna for Game 3 on Tuesday and Prospera Place for Game 4 on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. ET
