The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Uttar Pradesh Police on Saturday arrested three persons, who were allegedly traveling in an SUV that rammed into a group of protesters. Lakhimpur On October 3, four farmers died in Kheri. A journalist was also killed in this incident.
The SIT has identified the arrested people as Mohit Trivedi, Rinku Rana and DharmendraAll of them are residents of Lakhimpur Kheri. With this, the number of people arrested for the murder of farmers and journalists increased to 13.
“We have almost arrested all the accused found involved in the killing of farmers and a journalist. If any other new name comes up, we will take action against them also. We are also collecting electronic evidence against the accused,” said an SIT official.
The investigating agency produced the trio in a local court which remanded them to judicial custody. A police official said the court is likely to hear the SIT’s plea for 14-day custodial remand of the three on Monday. “The arrested persons were in the back seat of a Scorpio,” said a police officer.
