Third surge red flag: Not only Kovid cases, serious patients are also increasing in Punjab

As COVID cases rise in polling Punjab, a major concern is the increasing number of patients on oxygen, ICU (Level 3) and ventilator support.

According to the state’s Covid bulletin, only 23 patients were on ventilator support in Punjab as on January 1, which had gone up to 304 by January 10. However, by January 17, this number increased to 698.

Patients with level 3 (very severe, ICU) support were 8 on 1 January, rising to 85 on 10 January and 176 on 17 January.

There were no patients on ventilator support on January 1, while the number jumped to 12 on January 10 and reached 41 on January 17.

From January 10 to January 17, a total of 101 Covid deaths have been reported in Punjab, of which 76 have been recorded between January 14 and January 17.

According to the medical bulletin of the Punjab government, a total of 20 patients died in Punjab on January 17, while 13 had died on January 16. However, on January 15 and 14, the death toll was 22 and 21 respectively. ,

On Monday, maximum cases were reported from Jalandhar, which stood at 1,279, followed by Ludhiana at 1,041. Mohali reported 702 cases and Amritsar 555, while Hoshiarpur and Bathinda recorded 542 and 337 cases respectively.

Two deaths each were reported from Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Mohali, Moga and Amritsar, while three deaths were reported from Bathinda. Pathankot reported one death on Monday, while Patiala (4) had the highest number of deaths on Monday.
