Police said Morin had allegedly abandoned his top-floor apartment at The West Mall in Etobicoke on July 30, 1985. He was never seen again.

“Despite the passage of years, various media releases and numerous suggestions from the public, the police have been unable to bring this investigation to a conclusion, and it is still unknown what exactly happened to Nicole that day,” said Toronto Police. wrote in a 2019 news release.

Investigators said, in 1985, Nicole was reported to be four feet tall and weighed 55 pounds, with straight, shoulder-length brown hair, brown eyes, and a birthmark on her right upper forehead.

Please Bring Me Home said she was approached about two years ago by a witness who alleged that she had seen Morin in an Etobicoke park the day she disappeared.

Robinson said volunteers scouted the park to try to assess Tip’s potential and decided it was worth bringing in cadaver dogs for further exploration.

While Morin’s family previously filled out an intake form with the organization, the latest search is proceeding without his direct involvement.

“Usually we’re working hand in hand with family,” Robinson explained. “In this case, we decided that we would pursue this lead because we have an eyewitness.”

In 2014, Toronto police re-enacted a video of Morin’s disappearance leading to a tip. Police searched a rural area near Barrie, Ont., but found nothing.

Over the years, Toronto police have released material including sketches to show what Morin would look like now, but the case remains unsolved.

Robinson said the search would take between two and three hours and any leads would be immediately given to Toronto police.

“Even in the worst-case scenario, where we get nothing, at least we would have finished the area,” he said.

Toronto Police did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Global News.
