The body of a one-and-a-half-year-old boy Abhilash, who fell into a dirty drain in Punjab’s Kapurthala, was recovered on the seventh day on Monday. The body was floating at the same place, where the NDRF and the administration team were engaged in the rescue operation for 72 hours. After the information, the police reached the spot and sent the body of the child to the government hospital’s mortuary for post-mortem. It is believed that the child was stuck somewhere on the side after falling into the drain. Now the body has swelled and has come up. Police is engaged in investigation. In the morning, BJP leader Pawan Dheer was passing near the drain when his eyes fell on the body of the child.

Let us inform that on the afternoon of 9 August on Amritsar Road in Kapurthala, one and a half year old Abhilash had fallen while crossing the drain. His mother Manisha also jumped into the drain to save her. The people of the neighborhood took Manisha out of the drain in an unconscious condition, but no trace of the child was found. When there was no trace of the child till late in the evening, the administration called the army and NDRF for the rescue operation. Rescue operation was carried out here for 72 hours, but the child was not found. The family members were rounded up and questioned about whether the police suspected that there was any elasticity in the story of the child’s fall.

BJP leader saw, called police

The body of Abhilash, who could not be traced by an agency like NDRF in 72 hours, was found on Monday morning at the same place, where every nook and corner of the drain had been searched to find him. BJP leader Pawan Dhir told that he was leaving that road in the morning for some work, then suddenly saw the dead body of a child floating in the drain. This was immediately reported to the police.

SP (D) Harvinder Singh said that on Monday morning after giving information by an eyewitness, the team reached the spot and took possession of Abhilash’s body from the dirty drain. The body has been kept in the mortuary of the Civil Hospital. Action is being taken on the basis of the statement of the relatives. He also told that after the fall, the child may have been stuck somewhere on the side of the drain. So the rescue team could not find it. Now after she swelled, her body was found after swimming upstairs.
