Terrorist, policeman killed in Kulgam encounter: J&K Police

A “Top Pakistani” Terrorist killed in encounter in Kulgam, South Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir Police said on Thursday. A policeman named Constable Rohit Chibb also died during the operation, while three army personnel and two civilians were injured, police said.

Police identified the terrorist as “Babur Bhai”, and said he had links with Jaish-e-Mohammed,

The encounter started late on Wednesday evening in Parian area of ​​Kulgam. Speaking to the media, IGP (Kashmir Zone) Vijay Kumar said, “The owners of the house where the terrorist was hiding deliberately misled the search team by saying that there were no terrorists in their house, causing collateral damage. Therefore, action will be taken against them under the Terrorist Act.”

Officials said that the condition of those injured in the operation is stable.

Police said Babar was a classified terrorist operating in and around Shopian-Kulgam since the year 2018. He was wanted by law in several terror offenses cases. ,

According to the police, arms and ammunition including one AK-47 rifle, one pistol and two hand grenades have been recovered from the encounter site.

Senior police officials said that 14 terrorists have been killed since the beginning of the year, of whom at least seven were foreign nationals.
