Two teenagers have been charged with attempted murder after they allegedly stabbed a teacher in the upper chest, sending a top Perth in school lockdown.

Emergency services were called after 11 a.m. on Monday at Willeton Senior High School in the south of the city, when a woman aged 50 was reported to have been stabbed.

The teacher was allegedly stabbed in front of frightened students before the young assailant allegedly fled.

Two students, a 13-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy, will face Perth Children’s Court later on Tuesday.

The teacher was taken to Fiona Stanley Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, where she remains in a stable condition.

It is understood that the Year mentor suffered a ‘minor wound’, which was allegedly stabbed in the small room by a Year 8 student.

The students recalled seeing blood on the floor and were ordered to ‘come inside and lock the doors’ after the alleged incident.

‘Nobody knew what was happening, they didn’t tell us anything,’ said one Seven News.

Another student described the injured woman as one of the best teachers in the school.

“I really don’t understand what happened,” she told Nine News.

’ I messaged my sister and she was like ‘yeah, kisi ko chakni lag gaya’. I am scared. The teacher asked to close the door and everything.’

The police were seen leaving the school with the bag of evidence, which would be forensically examined.

Principal Trevor Hunter addressed the incident in a note sent home to the parents.

“The incident happened during the holiday and as a precaution all the students were kept in their classes for some time,” he wrote.

‘The school and administration staff took immediate action to keep the students away from the situation. No student was in danger at that time.

The education department reiterated the assurance that no student is in danger.

“We send our best wishes to the teacher involved and will extend our support to anyone else affected by this incident,” said Lisa Rodgers, director general of the WA Department of Education.

Pat Byrne, president of the State School Teachers Union of WA, described the alleged incident as “extremely disturbing.”

Willeton Senior High School is considered to be one of the top public schools in Perth.
