Sweet cat returned to owner after more than 18 months

A Kingston, Massachusetts, woman did all the usual things when her cat went missing, including distributing fliers and contacting animal control. But Lanny Hatch’s 4-year-old calico cat, Olivia, was nowhere to be found. Months went by for over a year and the indoor cat was still missing somewhere in the great outdoors. “We never thought we’d see him again,” Hatch said. About 18 months after his beloved pet ran away, Hatch moved from Kingston to Cape Cod. From afar, he tried once more to send fliers to his old neighborhood. The one Kingston resident who saw that petition was Amy Archer, who later saw Olivia. “I saw a cat staring at me from the window, and I’m pretty sure that’s it,” Archer said. “So I went and grabbed my phone and was able to take a picture of her.” “Once I saw the post above his face, I knew it would be him,” Hatch said. Archer set up a trap with some food to catch Olivia. And a few minutes later, we caught her,” he said. Soon after, Hatch headed north to Kingston to see if the cat caught in the trap was actually Olivia. When she arrived, the cat responded quickly. “She started meowing and making sounds like she knew it was her boss, and like, she was just excited,” Archer said. “I searched for so long and I was just driving myself crazy, so I had to put it in God’s hands and hope for the best. And here we are,” Hatch said.
