Sunwing just announced that they are canceling all operations on the Regina and Saskatoon Airport Up to and including February 3, 2023.

Senior traveler reflects on disappointing trip home from Cancun


The company tweeted that they are aware that their operations are not up to the mark and they are not serving their customers properly.

“We regret to inform our customers in Saskatoon and Regina that, due to unforeseen circumstances, we are unfortunately canceling our operations from both airports. The cancellations are effective immediately and apply to travel from both airports to and including Fri. Feb 3/23,” read the tweet.

He commented, “We know that, despite our best efforts, we have failed to meet our customers’ expectations, and we deeply apologize for not meeting the standards of service to our Saskatoon and Regina customers Huh.”

Customers on southbound flights will get a full refund.

“All that was in the Dominican was to fend for itself. It was just, you have to figure it out,” said Jessica Adair, a stranded Sunwing passenger who traveled to the Dominican Republic with her son.

The Adairs set out from Saskatoon on 14 December with the full intention of being home before Christmas Day. They still haven’t landed in Saskatchewan.

Paul Wilke said, “We found a piece of carpet and we slept on the floor on the night of 22 (December). This whole experience has been very disappointing.”

Wilke and his wife flew to Cancun with WestJet on 13 December and planned to return on 20 December.

Upon arriving at the Cancun airport to begin his journey home, he looked at the flight schedule posted at the airport and learned that his return flight had been cancelled.

“The older you get, the more pessimistic you become about travel because of the many more serious pitfalls.”

Adair said that even after several days of delays and cancellations, he has not received a single email from Sunwing regarding the situation.

“For our Saskatoon and Regina customers who are currently on destination, our team is actively working to repatriate all customers with canceled return flights, and will communicate more information regarding rescheduled flights shortly.” Will go,” Sunwing said in response to late departures out of the country.

After three days of trying to return to the country, Wilkes admits to spending over US$400 in hotel and transportation fees.

“This has been a very frustrating experience for my wife and my superiors,” Wilke said upon his return to the Regina airport.

“I’ve never been so grateful to see snow,” Adair said after making it to Winnipeg on an indirect flight.

She is still trying to bring her family to Saskatoon. He and his group are considering renting a car and driving the rest of the way.
