New Delhi: Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi on Saturday said photographs of hundreds of Muslim women were uploaded on an app using hosting platform GitHub. The MP said that he had taken up the matter with the Mumbai Police and demanded the earliest arrest of the culprits.

“Talked to @CPMumbaiPolice and DCP Crime Rashmi Karandikar ji. They will check it. Have also spoken to @DGPMaharashtra for intervention. Hope the people behind such wrong and sexist sites are caught,” Chaturvedi wrote in a tweet.

Responding to the development, Mumbai Police said that they have taken cognizance of the matter and the authorities concerned have been asked to take action. An official said that the Mumbai Cyber ​​Police has started investigation regarding the objectionable material.

A social media user said that the said app “Bully By” works just like Sully Deals. Once you open it, you will randomly see the face of a Muslim woman displayed as Bulli Bai, the user added.

Another Twitter user said that Muslim women with a strong presence on Twitter have been singled out and their pictures are being defaced and their pictures are being displayed as Bulli Bai.

A journalist, who was one of the woman named on the app, said Muslim women have had to start the year with a “sense of hatred”.

Last year, two FIRs were registered by the Delhi and Uttar Pradesh police in the Sully Deal incident in which photographs of Muslim women were misused, but no coercive action has been taken against the perpetrators in the case so far.
