Strong winds: 38 fishermen missing as three boats sink near Thatta

Thatta: At least 38 fishermen are missing after three boats capsized due to strong winds near Ketti Bandar in Thatta. This matter came to light on Saturday.

According to Pakistan Maritime Security Agency officials, four people have been rescued while efforts are on to trace all the missing fishermen.

Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum leader Syed Gulab Shah said that the tragic incident happened last night. At least 38 fishermen aboard the two boats are still missing, he said.

Another boat with 22 fishermen also sank in the sea near Thatta, but fortunately, a nearby boat rescued all the fishermen.

He said a boat named “Buhira Hassan” from Karachi sank near Carr Creek.

Death toll rises to six in Karachi due to strong winds

Earlier today, the death toll from accidents due to windy conditions in Karachi rose to six as one more person died after a brick rammed into the city.

Strong winds have so far claimed six lives in different parts of the city due to uprooting of electric poles and trees and collapse of walls and roofs and are still battering the metropolis.

According to the police, a man sleeping on the footpath in Dhoraji area died when a brick fell on his face due to strong winds, taking the death toll to six.

Yesterday, five people were killed when roofs and wall structures collapsed in different areas of the port city due to torrential winds.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said dusty winds have affected visibility in the city, adding to the inconvenience of commuters.
