Police said “Leo”, a yellow lab, had recently been reported stolen from his home – a rural property in Abbotsford.

“Through the investigation, we have determined that a prolific criminal living in the area was involved in the burglary,” said Sgt. Paul Walker
“Over the next few days, police visited a residence in west rural Abbotsford associated with this offender and spoke to occupants of the home.”
While police were on the suspected criminal’s property, officers spotted Leo and recovered him.
Leo was returned home to his rightful owners on Wednesday.

Abbotsford Police said that although it was clear the dog had been stolen, “the evidence necessary to secure criminal charges in this matter was not found.”
Walker said in Abbotsford, the community, as with much of B.C., has issues dealing with petty, repeat offenders.
“We constantly deal with prolific criminals who victimize the citizens of our community,” Walker told Global News.
“From time to time, we see these offenders being released from custody and returned to the community, where they continue to engage in criminal activity.”
