St. John man, 80, killed in garage fire: Police – New Brunswick | globalnews.ca

St. John police say an 85-year-old man was pronounced dead after he was found inside a burning garage.

Just before 9 p.m. Thursday, firefighters were called to Midwood Avenue to a report of smoke coming from a detached garage of a home.

The fire department said in a release that crews found the garage engulfed in flames.

Police said the fire did not spread to the main house and no one else was injured.

Police forces and firefighters are now investigating the fatal fire, including what caused it.

In the release the crew expressed “their deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the victim during this most difficult time”.
