The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Saturday that a jawan was killed in firing by terrorists at a military check post in Ghariom, North Waziristan.

In a statement, the ISPR said the troops retaliated after firing and are now clearing the area to eliminate the terrorists.

“During the exchange of fire, Sepoy Shahid, 29, a resident of Bahawalnagar, embraced martyrdom,” the army’s media wing said.

ISPR said that Pakistan Army is committed to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve.

The ISPR had said at the time that another soldier was killed in a gunfight by militants at an army post in the same area earlier this week.

According to the statement, the soldiers gave a befitting reply and launched a clean-up operation to eliminate any terrorists.

The army’s media wing said that during the firing, 37-year-old Naik Ghulam Mustafa, a resident of Muzaffarabad, embraced martyrdom.
