Slogans against chiefs of armed forces against national interest should not be allowed: Shahbazi

PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday said raising slogans against the heads of various branches of the Pakistan Army is against the national interest and should not be allowed at any cost.

His remarks came after an October 16 rally by the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) – an anti-government coalition of opposition parties – in Faisalabad. Asked whether the PML-N had a policy of ‘removing the head of the spy agency’, Shahbaz said raising such slogans against the heads of army institutions in public rallies was “not only against the national”. interest but it should not be allowed at all”.

He distanced himself and the PML-N from the person who incited the crowd to raise slogans and said that “the one who raised the slogans in Faisalabad has nothing to do with our party – they are not our party workers.” Or an office holder – I say this without any regret and there is no need to repeat the matter.”

Shahbaz said that a strong and professional army is necessary for the security, defense and peace of the country. He said that there is no need to interfere in the regular posting of any organization.
