Silver Star Mountain Resort is now open to mountain bikers for another year, and riders are ready to return.

“The trails are really nice just looking at the amount of moisture and snow,” said trail rider Tim Peterman.

Canada’s second-largest bike park received an unusually high amount of rainfall this winter and spring, meaning it took an entire team effort from the crew of Silver Star to get it open on time.

“They went straight for it and honestly they really enjoyed doing it,” explained Doug Chimuk, marketing manager for Silver Star.

“They built a big snow tunnel at the top for the guests to ride on. People were riding between the big chunks of snow for a while – it’s really good to melt and it’s moisture really cool along the trails in this season helps.”

Those who enjoy the resort’s way this summer will also see some new additions.

“Electric Avenue is a new e-bike accessible route, so they can now ride down the elevator to heaven and then reach the upper mountain or back to the village, so it’s new,” Chimuk describes. did.

“We’ve found a few more avenues on the go that are new from top to bottom, and we’ll be sharing more about them soon.”

Silver Star boasts of over 125 kilometers of cross-country and downhill trails, as well as 300 jumps. If you’re planning on hitting the terrain any time soon, you’ll want to plan ahead.

“I was really surprised at how full the parking lot is, because last time I was here it was just like a few riders,” said John Dawson, a mountain biker hailing from the lower mainland.

There will be no shortage of fun events at the resort this summer. The Crankworx Bike Fest runs from July 28-31, followed by the Summer Wine Festival from August 11-14, and the Craft Beer & Cider Festival on September 10.

Silver Star will be open to mountain bikers from now until the end of September.
