Days after party high command Navjot Singh Sidhu and Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi reached an agreement, the two met AICC observer Harish Chaudhary for the first time late on Sunday evening.

Sources said that apart from these three, the state unit’s General Secretary Minister Pargat Singh also attended the meeting held at Punjab Bhawan. This is being seen as the first coordination meeting after Sidhu met AICC general secretary KC Venugopal and Punjab affairs in-charge Harish Rawat on October 14. After that meeting, Sidhu had said that everything was sorted out and all his concerns were addressed. party high command

The high command had asked both Sidhu and CM Channi to sit together and resolve the issues which have become the cause of dispute between the two leaders. Hours after the meeting, Sidhu made public a letter to Congress President Sonia Gandhi, in which he sought a personal meeting in the form of a 13-point Punjab agenda that should be highlighted during the party’s campaign.

On 30 September, a three-member panel comprising Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, Navjot Singh Sidhu and AICC general secretary in charge of Punjab affairs decided to resolve the impasse over the appointment of officials and a cabinet minister, among other issues. However, no formal order has been issued in this regard. These decisions of the Channi-led government led to Sidhu resigning as the PPCC chief.

As part of the peace plan, the three-member panel was to meet at least once a week to discuss key government decisions and appointments. Sources also said that handing over the charge of DGP Vigilance to Siddharth Chattopadhyay was one such move to bring Sidhu back on the discussion table.
