Sheriff: Child found wandering alone in local hotel returned to parents

A girl who wanders alone in the hall of a local hotel has been reunited with her family.

At 5:43 a.m. Saturday the deputy was dispatched from 2222 Tittabawasi Road to Country Inn & Suites for a child walking in the second floor hall.

The girl could not lead investigators to the room she was in, so hotel staff and staff went door-to-door talking to the occupants of each room. No one claimed the child.

The child is about 1.5 to 2 years old, 2.5 feet tall and 26 pounds. She was found wearing a pink shirt with a penguin on it.

As of 10:46 a.m. Saturday, Saginaw County Undersheriff Mike Gomez said the child had been returned to his parents.

“CPS has interviewed the parents and is satisfied with their explanations,” Gomez said. “When the CPS contacted the occupants of the room they did not speak to an adult, but another juvenile said no child was missing from the room. The juvenile did not check to verify.”
