A fortnight after winning his last Olympic medal – gold in the 4×400 relay – Felix expressed sympathy for Richardson when he was booted for cutting grass for the Games.
Talking to Steven A. Smith, who is guest-hosting jimmy kimleyOf the show, Felix said: ‘She’s clearly gone through a lot. I hope people rally around him.
‘Obviously, he has a great personality and has put a lot of attention to the game. I think she will be in the game for a very long time. I think more than anything, for all the athletes, there’s a lot in it – we just, you know, give him the support he needs.’
But Richardson didn’t take kindly to a show of support, posting on Instagram hours later, writing: ‘The encouraging words on a TV show are as real as nothing else.’
Then on Wednesday morning, Richardson posted another cryptic message on Instagram: ‘Be a good person but don’t waste time proving it.’
It is unclear whether there is an underlining, private feud between the two sprinters, but the Post indicated that Richardson did not think Felix was honest in his answers.

But she has become a lightning rod of controversy since a positive marijuana test at the US Olympic trials disqualified her from competing in Tokyo.
She has owned a weed infestation and said she was ‘blinded to the injury’ after learning that her biological mother had died from a reporter.
Some have called for a ban on weed infringement for the Olympics after it becomes legal in some states in the US.
Richardson recently returned to competition but finished last against 100m Olympic medalists.
Most of the sprinters refused to answer questions about Richardson or even made fun of him. But Felix didn’t.
Felix is one of the most decorated American track athletes in Olympic history, with 11 medals, including gold and bronze in Tokyo.
