Seize the Grey wins the Preakness for D. Wayne Lukas and ends Mystik Dan’s Triple Crown bid

Two weeks after running in a race on the Derby undercard at Churchill Downs, Lucas was hopeful that the gray colt would take advantage of the muddy track as he hoped to make a second consecutive impressive start. Seize the Gray went to 9-1, one of the longest shots on the board.

Mystic Dan finished second in the eight-horse race in the $2 million, 1 3/16-mile race. After failing to go back to back after winning by a nose in the Kentucky Derby, it would be a surprise if he would run in the Belmont Stakes at Saratoga Race Course on June 8.
