Public health officials confirm second case monkeypox In Saskatchewan early Friday they are saying they have nothing to do with the first case.

The investigation is ongoing, according to officials, but they indicated that disease was most likely contracted outside the province.

Health officials said they would not release any information about who contracted the virus, but said they would inform communities if the risk became high.

Monkeypox is spread through prolonged face-to-face contact, touching bodily fluids or wounds of a person sick with the disease, or contact with contaminated objects such as bed linen or clothing.

Health officials said symptoms included swollen lymph nodes, a rash and fever.

Anyone who has traveled to places with confirmed cases of monkeypox, or suspects they have been in contact with someone with the virus and began to develop symptoms within three weeks, is asked to call Healthline 811 goes.
