Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani said on Wednesday that all educational institutions in the province will remain closed till August 8 and the remaining intermediate examinations in Sindh will be held after the coronavirus situation improves.

Educational institutions will remain closed in line with the coronavirus restrictions imposed under Sindh’s province-wide lockdown, the education minister said in a statement.

“The situation of corona virus in Sindh and especially in Karachi is not satisfactory,” the education minister said. He said the decision would be reviewed on August 8.

Ghani stressed that the cases of coronavirus in Karachi and Hyderabad were far higher than in other parts of the country. He said that keeping this in mind it is not possible to reopen the schools.

“The provincial coronavirus task force will meet on August 8 to decide the way forward,” the education minister said.

Sindh suspended all examinations, as well as all individual education-related activities, after the province imposed a lockdown on July 31.
