‘Sad that the film… didn’t release in theatres’: Vikram on Mahan – India Times English News

Tamil superstar Vikram, who is gearing up for the release of his upcoming action thriller film Cobra, recently had a fun interaction with fans on the Twitter space. Apart from Vikram, Irfan Pathan, Srinidhi Shetty, Cobra director Ajay Gyanmuthu and some crew members were also present in the audio conversation.

During the conversation, Vikram expressed his disappointment that his film Mahan was not released theatrically. Although it was decided that the 2022 action thriller directed by Karthik Subbaraj was going to hit the silver screens, the makers opted for an OTT release. It premiered on OTT platform amazon prime This year on February 10.

Mahan portrayed Vikram with his real-life son Dhruv Vikram. Mahan marked the first film in which Vikram and his son starred, creating a lot of buzz among fans. Vikram lamented that “it is still sad that the film in which I acted with Dhruv did not release in theatres.”

Talking about his upcoming film Cobra, Vikram revealed that the film will be an emotional rollercoaster. The Iru Mugan actor later said that he portrayed three different characters in the films Mahan, Kobra and Ponniyin Selvan: I, which was quite a challenge for him.

Vikram also shared his happiness that after a gap of three years, fans are going to see him in action on-screen in theatres. “…It’s been three years since fans saw my films on screen. But now Cobra and Ponniyin Selvan are releasing one after the other.”

Helmed by Ajay Gyanmuthu, Cobra is all set to hit the theaters on August 31 this year. Apart from Cobra, superstar Vikram will also be seen in director Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan: I. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Shobhita Dhulipala, Trisha Krishnan and Vikram Prabhu, period drama Ponniyin Selvan: I am all set to hit the silver screens on 30th September this year.
