Russia increases pressure on European gas supply

Russia stepped up pressure on Europe’s biggest economies with further cuts in gas supplies, raising concerns about a fuel shortage this winter.

Gas flowed through the Nord Stream, the main conduit for Russian fuel in Europe, at an anemic pace for the fourth-straight day, reaching only 55% of its rate since the start of the week on Friday. Germany’s Uniper SE, the continent’s largest importer of Russian gas, said it was receiving 40% of the requested gas from Russia’s state-owned exporter, Gazprom PJSC.
