Bhopal: The Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) of Madhya Pradesh Police, probing a complaint of disproportionate assets, recovered over Rs 85 lakh in cash from the house of a state government clerk in Bhopal, who had found some such liquids during searches on Wednesday. had consumed, which was suspected to be poisonous. said an officer. The search operation continued till late Wednesday night and a note counting machine was brought to calculate the exact value of the pile of cash recovered from his house in Bairagarh area, the official said.

Superintendent of Police (EOW) Rajesh Mishra told PTI that the upper division clerk attached to the state medical education department claimed that they consumed bathroom cleaner when the EOW team reached his house.

He said Keswani also tried to stop the officers from searching his house and pushed him.

“He was taken to the Government Hamidia Hospital. His condition is stable and he is undergoing treatment for problems related to blood pressure,” the SP said.

Mishra said that till evening more than Rs 85 lakh in cash was recovered from Keswani’s residence in possession of documents related to immovable properties and other assets worth crores of rupees.

MP government clerk has assets worth Rs 4 crore

He said that it is estimated that he has assets worth Rs 4 crore.

The EOW official said that Keswani’s luxurious residence, where expensive decorative items were found, was worth around Rs 1.5 crore.

The SP said that the clerk had started his job at a salary of around Rs 4,000 per month and was currently receiving around Rs 50,000 per month. Lakhs of rupees were found deposited in the bank accounts of Keswani’s family members.

The official said that he had bought most of the property in the name of his wife, who is a housewife and has no source of income.

Mishra said the total value of the property found during the search would be known only after the completion of the valuation work and verification of documents.
