Republican Congresswoman Nancy Mace calls on George Santos to resign

Republican Rep. Nancy Mays of South Carolina engages fellow GOP Rep. George Santos of New York and said that he should resign.

“I mean, if you look at his campaign finance allegations, there are serious issues there,” she said.

Mr. Santos last year flipped New York’s 3rd district, which President Joe Biden won by 8 points in 2020. since then, he is faced scrutiny for fabricating several parts of his resume, including being descended from grandparents who fled the Holocaust, where they worked and whether they graduated from Baruch College.

In addition, Mr. Santos faced scrutiny for allegedly raising money to pay for a service dog’s surgery that belonged to a veteran dog and then pocketing the money.

“And this is a guy who pretended to be a descendant of Holocaust survivors, used a pretend Jewish name to raise money for the veteran and his service dog, and they and the guy got away, right?” Ms. Mays told Independent.

Despite these allegations, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has said he will support Mr. Santos because voters in New York’s 3rd District have elected him. But Ms. Mays, who prefers Mr. Santos and voted for Mr. McCarthy to be president, disagreed.

“This is a constitutional republic and the voters elect who represents them in Congress, however, the voters were outright lying,” she said. “If you want to talk about electoral fraud. Let’s talk about New York 3.

Ms. Mays also criticized the fact that Mr. Santos now sits on two committees: the House Small Business Committee and the House Science, Space and Technology Committee.
