Redevelopment of 5 popular Delhi markets: Survey to develop new designs, take stock of facilities

Following proposals for redevelopment of five popular markets, the Delhi government has started the preliminary work towards their improvement. To take stock of the lack of facilities in the market, the government will conduct an online survey of traders in all the five markets.

Kamla Nagar, Sarojini Nagar, Khari Baoli Masala Bazar, Lajpat Nagar and Kirti Nagar Furniture Market are the five markets that will get a facelift under the market redevelopment project.

Under this survey, the government will collect information about the number of shops, the number of floors, the size of the shops, the number of female and male employees deployed and their details, among other things. a Google The form will be issued in which the traders will have to submit all the information sought by the government.

According to AAP leader and Chambers of Traders and Industry (CTI) Brijesh Goyal, the architects will prepare the design for the redevelopment process based on the information gathered through the survey.

“We will collect important information from traders through this survey. For example, if we have data on the number of women workforce, it will come in handy when deciding on construction of toilets and other facilities. In addition, the veracity of the information through the survey will help the architects to prepare detailed project reports,” said Goyal.

The survey will be conducted by the government in collaboration with market associations. Information such as the market entity they (merchants) belong to, their business name and nature, business address, mobile number, e-mail ID, name, employee details, their gender, gender and other demographic details. Recovery of daily market, footfall etc. will be done.

Goyal said that the Kejriwal government has been making traders aware of every process and decision.

This project is one of the most ambitious projects of AAP announced in the annual budget for 2022-23 to generate employment. A budget of Rs 100 crore has been allocated for the redevelopment project.
