New Delhi, July 27

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi on Wednesday said the government was prepared to discuss price rise and dared the opposition disrupting House proceedings to come forward for a debate.

Joshi was speaking in Lok Sabha seconds before Speaker Om Birla, red flagging the conduct of opposition, mainly opposition MPs, adjourned the house till noon.

The Lok Sabha has not transacted any meaningful business since the start of the session on July 18.

“The price rise that you want to discuss. We are ready to discuss it today. The finance minister has returned after recovering from covid and is in Parliament. Opposition states have not reduced VAT. Therefore, they are running away from discussions. We are ready to discuss it today, right now,” Joshi said amid opposition MPs storming the Well.

Birla asked opposition MPs to watch their conduct.

“All democratic institutions, state assemblies are watching you. They are watching your conduct, your conduct is not proper. Let me run this House as per the rules you have framed,” said Birla.
