Ray Donovan and ER actress Mary Mara die at 61 after ‘drowning in the river’

Actress Mary Mara has reportedly died of drowning in the St. Lawrence River. She was 61 years old.

His body was found in the waters of Cape Vincent, New York City, on Sunday morning, after police were notified of a possible drowning at around 8:10 am.

A representative for Mara said she was visiting her sister’s summer home in the Thousand Islands region — one of New York state’s northernmost borders — where water temperatures remain cool, even in summer.

Posts on Mara’s Instagram account reveal that she enjoyed spending time and swimming in the St Lawrence River, including a photo from July 2019 that showed her descending from a dock in the water and read ‘ 63 degrees! Life confirmed to swim in the river, the first of the season.’

“When Troopers with Cape Vincent Fire and ambulances arrived at the scene, they discovered a dead woman in the St. Lawrence River,” police said in a statement.

‘The victim has been identified as Mary T. Mara, 61, of Cape Vincent, NY.’

Preliminary investigations suggest that the victim had drowned while swimming. There was no sign of any disturbance in the victim’s body.

An autopsy will be performed at the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office for an official cause of death.

‘Mary was one of the best actresses I’ve ever met. “He had a brilliant sense of humor and a unique outlook on life,” said Mara’s manager Craig Dorfman in a statement, “I still remember the first time I saw him in Mad Forest in 92.” She was utterly captivating, well loved. , and will be missed.’

Mara has had an extensive career in both Hollywood and television, and has worked with some of the biggest names in the business.

She played Loretta Sweet in nine episodes of ER from 1995 to 1996.

Mara also played Susan in the 1992 Billy Crystal film Mr. Saturday Night.

Over the years, he had roles in The West Wing, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Star Trek: Enterprise, Nip/Tuck and The Practice.

In 2013, she played Mrs Sullivan on Ray Donovan and Nance on Shameless.

His last role was in the 2020 film Break Even.

Mara is a resident of Syracuse. He attended San Francisco State University and Yale School of Drama.

He is survived by a stepdaughter, Katie Mersola, her sisters Martha Mara and Susan Mara, her brother-in-law Scott Daly and her nephew, Christopher Daly.
