Rameez Raja elected as new PCB chairman ‘unanimously and unopposed’

Former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja on Monday became the new chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after being elected “unanimously and unopposed”, according to a press release issued by the board.

A special meeting of the PCB’s Board of Governors was held at the National High Performance Center in Lahore to elect the 36th chairman of the cricket body.

Retired judge Sheikh Azmat Saeed conducted the election and presided over the special meeting.

“I am thankful to all of you for choosing me as PCB chairman and look forward to working with you to ensure that Pakistan remains strong both on and off the cricket field,” Raja said. Board members in the PCB press release.

“One of my main focus will be to help Pakistan men’s cricket team to present the same culture, mindset, attitude and attitude that once made Pakistan one of the most cricket playing nations.

As an organization, we all need to step back from the national team and provide them with the desired help and support so that they can build that brand of cricket which also has a fan following every time they step into the field of play. So expect them.

“Obviously, as a former cricketer, my second priority would be to look after the welfare of our past and present cricketers. The game has always been and will be about the cricketers and hence, they deserve more recognition and respect than their parent institution. “

The newly elected PCB chairman is expected to address a press conference later today (Monday).

Raja will succeed Ehsan Mani, who completed his three-year term last month.

Ramiz and Asad Ali Khan were two nominees PCB’s patron Prime Minister Imran Khan.

When he was in the opposition, PM Imran was against the policy of the PCB chairman to be nominated by the Prime Minister. However, he nominated Mani as the chairman, and followed the same policy this time by electing Asad and Ramiz.

Interestingly, the last time Asad was nominated along with Mani.
