Rain, snow warnings issued for parts of Nova Scotia: Environment Canada – Halifax | globalnews.ca

Environment Canada is warning that parts of Nova Scotia could experience precipitation along with the melting snow from Sunday night into Monday.

Rain warnings have been issued for Digby, Yarmouth, Shelburne, Queens, Lunenburg, Halifax, Guysborough, Richmond and Cape Breton counties.

The warning states that precipitation will begin in the form of snow on Sunday night, except along the Atlantic coast where it is expected to begin as rain.

“Heavy snow is expected to turn into rain at times on Monday morning. Occasional heavy rain will reduce over western areas on Monday afternoon and over eastern areas on Monday evening.

“If visibility drops while driving, turn on your lights and keep a safe distance. Local flooding is possible in low-lying areas.

There is a possibility of 25 to 40 mm of rain.

Environment Canada also issued a snowfall warning for parts of northern Nova Scotia, with 20 to 25 centimeters of snow expected from Sunday into Tuesday morning.

A snowfall warning for Cumberland County North and Cobequid Pass says snow will begin to fall Sunday night, sometimes becoming heavy, into Monday morning.

It said, “Snowfall is expected to continue till Monday night and end on Tuesday morning.” There is a possibility of snowfall on Monday as well, he added.

The weather agency also issued a special weather statement for Annapolis, Kings and Colchester counties, where 10 to 15 centimeters of snow are expected between Sunday night and Tuesday morning.
