After a gap of more than 15 days, Mumbai received moderate rains on Sunday morning. In the 24 hours since 8.30 am on Saturday, the India Meteorological Department’s Santa Cruz observatory recorded 25.6 mm of rain, while the Colaba observatory recorded 42.8 mm of rain.

The city remained partly cloudy on Sunday. The IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places with a possibility of moderate rain over the city and suburbs during the next 24 hours. Till noon, the IMD had put Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Palghar on yellow alert, i.e. heavy rain forecast at isolated places.

As per the forecast and warnings for the district, the southern Konkan region – Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg are on yellow alert for Tuesday and Wednesday with heavy rain at isolated places.

Since there is no favorable weather system in Maharashtra, the monsoon rainfall activity is low. All the 36 districts of the state have recorded the least amount of rain in 15 days of the month.
