spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal The men entered the final of the French Open on Friday after rival Alexander Zverev was forced to retire due to injury.

After losing the first set 7–6 (8) in the tie-break, Zverev was leading 6–5 in the second set of the semi-final match when the German twisted his ankle for a forehand shot. Zverev immediately fell and, holding his right ankle, screamed in agony.

The 25-year-old had to be taken off the court in a wheelchair, before getting back on crutches to address the crowd. As Zverev shook hands with the chair umpire and hugged Nadal, the audience applauded.

As a result of the injury, Nadal emerged victorious and continued his quest for a 14th title and a record 22nd Grand Slam title at Roland Garros. On Sunday, he will face the winner of the match between Norway’s Kasper Rood on Friday and Marin Cilic of Croatia on Sunday.
