  • Dresses and skirts should be of modest length, defined as falling just above the knee or longer.
  • Dresses and tops should have straps of an inch or more. Strapless, off shoulder, halter neck and spaghetti straps are not allowed. Dresses and tops with sheer straps and sleeves are also not allowed.
  • Can wear jacket and pashmina. Tops and bottoms must still follow the Royal Enclosure dress code. The midriff should be covered.
  • Trouser suits welcome. They should be of full length till the ankle and should be of matching material and colour.
  • Welcome to jumpsuits. They should fall below the knee, with matching rules for clothing.
  • must wear a hat; However, a headpiece that has a solid base of 4 inches (10 cm) or more in diameter is acceptable as a substitute for a hat. Fascinator is not allowed.

girls

  • Girls (aged 10-17) should dress according to the women’s dress code. However, they may wear a headpiece or fascinator as an alternative to a hat, without any size restrictions.

Wearing a black, gray or navy morning dress is a requirement that should include:

  • A waistcoat and tie (no cravat or bow ties)
  • a black or gray top hat
  • black shoes with socks

A gentleman can remove his top hat in a restaurant, a private box, a private club or within the terrace, balcony or garden of a facility.

The caps can also be removed within any of the enclosed outdoor seating areas within the Royal Enclosure Garden.

Customization of top hats (for example, with colored ribbons or bands) is not allowed in the Royal Enclosure

Novelty vests and ties are allowed. Discreet patterns and those of a patriotic nature (for example, a national flag) are acceptable.

  • Boys (aged 10-17) must either dress according to the dress code of the gentlemen; Or alternatively wear a dark colored lounge suit with a shirt and tie.

Additional Information: Fancy dress, novelty and branded or promotional clothing are not permitted on the site.

Women within the Queen Anne Enclosure are required to dress according to a formal occasion and are kindly asked to note the following:

  • A hat, headpiece or fascinator should be worn at all times.
  • Strapless and sheer dresses and tops are not allowed. Please note that our definitions of strapless necklines include off-the-shoulder, bardot and one shoulder. Dresses and tops with sheer straps and sleeves are also not allowed. The midriff should be covered.
  • The trouser suit should be full length and the jumpsuit should be below the knee. Both should follow the above neckline rules. No shorts are allowed.

girls

  • Girls 17 and under should be dressed for a formal occasion. Smart summer clothes are suggested.
  • Hats, headpieces and fascinators may be worn but are not mandatory.

  • A tie should always be worn. Bow ties and cravats are not allowed.
  • Socks should be worn and the ankle should be covered. Jeans, chinos and trainers are not allowed.

  • Boys aged 10-17 should wear a suit or jacket with a shirt and tie. Boys age nine and under should wear smart clothing, but they are not required to wear a jacket or tie.
