Pune’s Venus Traders 48th Year With Kala Utsav

City-based Venus Traders celebrated its 48th anniversary with an arts festival. Venus Art Festival is being organized from 11 am to 8 pm at Raja Ravi Varma Art Gallery located on Ghol Road from 17th to 19th June. The festival will feature professional senior artists, female artists, self-taught artists and Urban Skechers groups.

“June 10 marks the 48th anniversary of Venus Traders and the festival will showcase paintings by 48 painters from across the city. There are several painting activities scheduled throughout the day, especially for children. Based on the concept of ‘life line on canvas’ by the artists, a painting had the hand prints of all the artists and art lovers who visited the festival. The painting will be donated to the airport authority after the festival,” said Venus Traders owner Surendra Karamchand-Ani.

The festival was inaugurated by actor Girish Kulkarni on Friday. Senior artists Sudhakar Chavan, Subhash Pawar and Pramod Kamble were felicitated along with regional Camel Art Foundation competition winners Surbhi Gulvilkar and Rupesh Sonar. The day ended with a live demo of calligraphy painting by artist Manohar Desai.

“I believe this platform for showcasing the work of individual artists is really commendable. It will help the younger generation to look beyond the STEM options in academia and learn more about the arts. At an early age It is important to showcase different art forms with proper practice,” said Girish Kulkarni. Artist Vilas Kulkarni presented a demo of watercolor painting on Saturday.
