Pune youth arrested for waving pistol in public place to celebrate murderer friend’s birthday

The crime branch of Pune City Police has arrested a youth after he and his associates celebrated the birthday of a friend, who was murdered a few days ago, by brandishing a country-made pistol and cutting a cake in a public place. .

The accused Akshay alias Prasad Kanitkar was arrested from near Navnath Dutta temple in Bibwewadi on Thursday. During the search, the police recovered a country-made pistol and a live cartridge worth Rs 25,200 from him.

Police said Kanitkar was celebrating the birthday of his friend Bhavesh Kamble, who was murdered a few days ago. Police said Kanitkar and 15 of his associates had gathered at a place in Bibwewadi, where they allegedly raised slogans in memory of Kamble, waving pistols in the air and also cut a cake on the spot.

In this case, a case has been registered at Bibwewadi police station under sections of Arms Act.
