Pune SSC result: Helped by night school, he picked up books after long gap

City Night School candidates have managed to crack the SSC exam, the results of which were declared on Friday. He found the right platform at Poona Knight High School and Junior College at Bajirao Road. School hours are from 6 pm to 9:30 pm every day of the week.

One such student, Komal Raju Kirve, returned to studies after a gap of nine years, scoring 86.40 per cent.

“I was suffering from depression for a long time but my aunt has been my pillar of support. He gave me the strength to be independent and return to education after my mother’s death. During the pandemic, I worked as a Zomato rider, using my cycle and delivering the parcel before 6, only to go to school and read till 9:30. Our teachers have supported us in every possible way, working along with studies is possible because of their courage and the hours they put in by giving extra classes. I am doing commerce now and aspire to become a CA.”

Another CA candidate, Karan Kisan Savalkar secured 81 per cent marks. Savalkar said, “My brother told me about night school during the pandemic. When all schools were going online, and I didn’t have the means to do so, I turned to Poona Knight High School. During the day, I work as a part-time gardener with my friend and then cycle to school for classes in the evening. To save my time, the school provided me a cycle.”

Pratham Bub, a guitar enthusiast who helps house four people, shared, “I work at New Poona Bakery by day, and study here at night. During the pandemic my father lost his job and my mother was paralyzed. I had to pitch, I started working but decided to study together. They are happy with my 68 per cent, as I have decided to complete my education after a gap of four years. He hopes to learn French and study hotel management.

Sangeeta Shinde, a homemaker and mother of three children, started her studies after 25 years and scored 68 per cent marks.
“I wake up at 5 a.m. to work at the doctor’s clinic from 9 to 5 p.m. Then, I come to school. My kids have inspired me to continue my education, and my business at home. I make handicrafts and sweets and sell them during festivals,” said Sangeeta.

Another such inspiration is Naina Vasant Vahankade of Absaheb Atre Prashala, who secured 78 per cent marks.

“I am a mother of two girls. The strength I get from girls is why I came back to study after 10 years. I want them to look at me with pride, and learn to balance household chores, as well What do they want from their life,” said Vahankade.
