A 36-year-old man with a criminal record was shot dead at the venue of a function organized by the victim in Pimpri chinchwad’s Pimple Gurav area. Police have started searching for the two suspects and their possible accomplices.
The victim has been identified as Yogesh Jagtap, who ran a business and had at least five serious offenses registered against him in the past.
Jagtap had organized a religious program in Pimple Gurav area on Saturday morning. When he reached the pandal of the ceremony at around 9.30 am, two men abused him and threatened to kill him and then opened fire on him. Preliminary investigation reveals that at least four rounds were fired, out of which two hit Jagtap in the chest and abdomen. He was taken to the hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Top officials of Pimpri-Chinchwad police, including commissioner Krishna Prakash, reached the spot. Raids are being conducted to arrest both the accused.
