PTI’s Aon Abbas Buppi appointed special aide to PM on e-commerce

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Aon Abbas Buppi has been appointed as Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on e-commerce, according to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division on Wednesday.

Notification, a copy of which is available with don.com, said Bappi’s appointment “will be in an honorary capacity”.

Buppi was elected as a senator in March this year and till then he was serving as the managing director of Pakistan Betul Mall.

His appointment follows PTI’s Muhammad Ayub Afridi as advisor to the Prime Minister on overseas Pakistanis.

afridi submitted his resignation as a member of the upper house of Senate President Sadiq Sanjrani and vacated his seat on Tuesday.

In a video message from Parliament after his resignation was accepted by the Senate Speaker, Afridi said that Prime Minister Imran Khan had earlier expressed his desire to resign, which is why he has now taken the step.

Hours later, he was notified as an advisor to the Prime Minister on foreign Pakistanis.

According to media reports, the government is planning to elect Shaukat Tarin, the premier’s finance adviser, to the Senate on the seat vacated by Afridi to ensure that he can become finance minister again.

These recent appointments have increased the number of members in the federal cabinet to 53. They now include 17 special assistants to the prime minister, five advisors, 27 federal ministers and four ministers of state.
