Pro golf Steven Alker says caddie, Sam Workman, diagnosed with terminal cancer

Five Time PGA Tour Champions Winner Steven Elker announced Thursday that his caddy, Sam Workman, has been diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Alkar, Raj Charles Schwab Cup The winner made the heartbreaking announcement in a post on Instagram.

“It is with a heavy heart that I share the devastating news [Workman] Terminal cancer has been diagnosed. Our hearts break for Sam and his family as they process this information, but during this uncertain time, we want them to know they are not alone.”

Elkar has partnered with Workman since 2019. Since teaming up, Elker has won five tournaments on the PGA Tour and was recently awarded the Charles Schwab Cup in 2022.

“Sam Workman has been much more than just a professional golf caddy to me over the past four years,” Elker’s post read.

“He has been a friend, a motivator, a decision maker and a fighter. We have had some tough times and have also had some good times recently. He has been like an elder brother to me ever since we first met in 2019 I was involved.”

According to the Golf Channel, Workman, a 55-year-old Texas native, has played golf most of his life and has participated in nearly 400 tournaments. Alker and Workman met through a mutual friend.
