KARACHI: K-Electric on Sunday claimed that a stable power supply has been ensured in Karachi after heavy rains.

Amid moderate to heavy rains in the city, a spokesperson of the power supply company said that around 180 feeders out of 1,900 have been switched off mostly for safety reasons.

To ensure safety, the areas that have been temporarily closed include Singhu Lane, Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 6 and 11, North Nazimabad, Arafat Town, North Karachi Sector 3, Shahnawaz Bhutto Colony and Bismillah in Lyari Colony included.

Most of the affected areas include areas with high risk of waterlogging or high prevalence of illegal electricity connections, which can compromise safety protocols and put civilians at risk.

The company has urged citizens to “maintain a safe distance from the electrical infrastructure and stay indoors after the expected heavy hours”.
