“However, the crowd was huge and people were crossing the fence and coming towards us. People were pushing and pulling me to such an extent that they tore my clothes. Many people tried to help me. But the crowd was too much and they kept throwing me in the air,” she said.

He further said that his associates were also assaulted. During the conflict, her ring and earrings were “forcibly taken away”, besides the mobile phone of one of her accomplices, her identity card and Rs 15,000 on her person.

“Unknown people attacked us violently,” the complainant said.

The FIR was registered under sections 354A (assault or criminal force against woman and her stripping off her clothes), 382 (theft after preparation to cause death, hurt or restraint), 147 (rioting) . and 149 (Unlawful Assembly) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Meanwhile, Lahore DIG Operations Sajid Kiyani ordered the Superintendent of Police (SP) to take “immediate legal action” against the suspects involved in the incident.

“The suspects should be traced with the help of the footage,” a statement quoted the police officer as saying.

“Those who violated the dignity of women and harassed them will be brought under the purview of the law,” Kiyani said.

A video of the incident started circulating on social media today, with citizens expressing anger over the actions of the men in the video.
