Police identify two Michigan State University students killed during mass shooting

Two Michigan State University killed students during mass shooting The East Lansing campus has been identified on Monday night.

Michigan State University Police said in a statement Brian Fraser, a sophomore from Grosse Pointe, Michigan, and Alexandria Werner, a junior from Clausen, were among the three students who were shot and killed.

Police said the name of the third victim was not being released at the request of his family.

The statement said five other victims remained hospitalized in critical condition.

“We cannot begin to fathom the immeasurable amount of pain our campus community is feeling,” said Deputy Chief of Police and Public Safety Chris Roseman.

Clausen Public Schools Superintendent Billy Shellenberger paid tribute to Werner, who will graduate from Clausen High School in 2020, in an email to parents on Tuesday.

“Alex was and is incredibly loved by everyone. She was a tremendous student, athlete, leader and person of exemplary kindness every day of her life,” Mr. Shellenberger wrote about the forensic science student.

“Her parents, Ted and Nancy, and sister Charlotte and brother TJ are equally saddened but are certainly already feeling the uplifting support of this overwhelming community.

“If you knew her, you loved her and will always remember her lasting impact on all of us,” the superintendent wrote in a letter to CPS families.

Fraser, 20, was a sophomore business student and chapter president of MSU’s Phi Delta Theta fraternity.

reality tv star chandra davis said in an instagram posted on Tuesday morning that Ms. Anderson was his niece and had not been accounted for.

“She was in her class in the same building as the active shooter and we haven’t heard from her,” Ms. Davis, who goes by Delishis, wrote.

Police were called to the MSU campus around 8.18 a.m. on Monday after a gunman with no ties to the university opened fire in an academic study room.

Police said 43-year-old Anthony McRae died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after being surrounded by officers.

The university said classes were canceled for two days and would resume on Thursday.

Additional counseling services are provided for bereaved students.
